Written Exam Pattern
Subjects: General Intelligence & Reasoning (25 marks), General Awareness (25 marks), Numerical Ability (25 marks), Technical Subject / Trade (25 marks) Total Questions: 100 MCQs; Negative Marking: 0.25 marks per wrong answer
Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
Male: 1.6 km run in 6 minutes; Female: 800 m run in 5 minutes Height: Male 165 cm, Female 150 cm (relaxation for hill/ST candidates) Chest: Male 76–81 cm (minimum 5 cm expansion)
Medical Examination
Candidates must meet medical standards prescribed for BRO service, including fitness for high‑altitude deployment
Final Merit List
Based on Written Exam marks (PET and Skill Test are qualifying only)
Pay Scale / Salary
Pay Level‑1 to Level‑5 (₹18,000 – ₹92,300) as per 7th Pay Commission + DA, HRA, Transport Allowance, Special Duty Allowance, and other benefits
Special Allowances
High Altitude Allowance, Risk Allowance, Free Accommodation in border areas, and other service‑specific benefits
Job Responsibilities
Construction and maintenance of strategic roads, bridges, tunnels, and airstrips in border and high‑altitude regions
Training
Selected candidates undergo basic training at BRO Academy, followed by on‑the‑job training in project areas

The age criteria vary depending on the post but generally fall between 18 and 27 years. Relaxations are provided as per government norms: SC/ST candidates get 5 years, OBC candidates 3 years, and PwBD candidates up to 10 years. Ex‑servicemen also enjoy concessions under central rules. This ensures inclusivity while maintaining suitability for physically demanding roles in BRO.

Candidates from General/OBC/EWS categories must pay ₹50–₹100 depending on the post, while SC, ST, PwBD, and women candidates are exempted from paying any fee. Payment can be made through online modes such as Debit/Credit Cards, Net Banking, or UPI, ensuring accessibility for applicants nationwide.

The application process starting on 20 June 2026. The last date to apply online is 4 July 2026, and the fee payment deadline is also 4 July 2026. Admit cards will be issue soon, and the written examination and trade tests are scheduled for August-September 2026. Results will be declared later in the year on BRO’s official website.
